poem of the day 09.05.13

champagne bottle heart

untethered by everything
that used to hold ground

i am nothing but a cheap cup of black coffee
steaming for old brooklyn to drink

oscillated by the change of season
yet impeded by the gray residing in my soul

living a pain like this
so unenlightened by time

the basement me
willing to go another round

hoping to uncork
my champagne bottle heart.
