day NINE HUNDRED and THIRTY FIVE

Nothing to see here

wrenched away from family
at the border of a strange country
stripped
searched
put in the cage

wide eyes round in shock

at night the foil blankets
of all of the children
shimmer as they cry
themselves to quiet

the soldiers come
they rape
they hurt the
virgin bodies
and throw them back
into the cage

or bury them
